Robot vacuum for a small apartment: measure before buying

BotsMarket editorial team · Our verification method · Reviewed

In a compact home, access and storage matter more than a headline area rating. A robot that cannot reach the floor beneath your furniture may leave the most inconvenient work to you.

Take three measurements

Measure the lowest clearance under furniture, the narrowest useful route and the complete dock service area. Include space to lift tanks and replace bags. Mark cables and rug fringes that may need moving before a cleaning run.

Two low-profile options to investigate

Roborock specifies 7.98 cm for Saros 10 with its navigation tower retracted and for Saros 10R without a raised tower. Leave a practical margin: carpet thickness, uneven flooring and furniture sag can change clearance. These models illustrate low-profile navigation; they are not automatically the best value for a studio.

A multifunction dock can occupy more useful space than the robot. Compare the exact tank-based or plumbed variant, and do not use the plumbing variant’s installation dimensions for a different dock. If neither fits, choose a simpler dock after checking its maintenance requirements.

Our decision rule

Reject any configuration whose dock blocks a daily route. Between models that fit, prioritise easy brush access and an acceptable noise schedule. Ask the seller for the applicable return terms before relying on an in-home trial.
